What an amazing month it has been for us as we have been sharing our ministry with more and more people. God is AWESOME! We had a great time at First Baptist of Welcome, NC , meeting many wonderful families who have a heart for missions and for what God is doing all over the world. Then we went to the mountains of Waynesville, NC and spent the weekend with some dear friends who opened up their home to us as we presented our ministry to many of their friends. God really had his hand involved with both of these trips, as more and more people joined in with us and recognized the importance of reaching the lost for Christ on our college campuses. Finally, last week, our family got back in the car and drove up to State College, PA for a retreat with all of our fellow campus ministers in Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey. The time we spent up there was priceless, getting to know people who were once in our shoes, and they were able to give us encouragement and advice. God is at work, and it has been a joy to see Him work and move in the hearts of His children!

God is so good. What a blessing it was to speak to some of the sweetest people, and people who love what God is doing around the world. It was a great time of proclamation and encouragement, and new relationships to carry away.
Praise God for churches who love supporting missionaries and the work they are doing for the Kingdom of God. It was exciting meeting the people and hearing how they recognize the importance of campus ministries taking the Gospel of peace to the lost students on our campuses. Please be in prayer for more opportunities like this one. If you are interested in us coming and speaking at your church, or to a group of your family/friends, or even just your own family, please do not hesitate shoot me an email and we can set something up. The more people who hear about this ministry and hear about our needs, the quicker we can get to the mission field! Praise God for what He is doing and what He will continue to do. He deserves all praise and glory! Love, The Underhills Praise God for the amazing trip to Pennsylvania! It was a huge blessing to be able to put our feet on actual campuses and to see where we will be calling home. I know that you guys were praying for us and we thank you so much. As we went to each campus, we not only focused on the school, but the community where we would live. We looked at everything from churches to homes. And I think Briana and I can definitely say that we left Pennsylvania with one school/community on the top of our list. However, we truly believe that God will call us to the place He wants us to go. We ask that you would pray that the Holy Spirit would clearly call us to His choice. We want to be in the midst of His will, because there are lost students on all 6 schools that we visited that need to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We don’t want to neglect a school because of our own personal opinion. We want to be obedient.

The Underhill’s are getting in the car and heading up to Pittsburgh Wednesday. We will spending a few days up there touring campuses all over the area, and getting familiar with the communities in which we might live. We are excited to see what God has in store for us. Please be in prayer for us as we make this trip. We would love for you to pray for us to hear God’s calling upon us, and to know His will for our family. Below, I have listed out the tentative agenda for the trip, and what we want is for you to pray for us each day, in correlation to the campus we will be at. We desire for our plans to be in line with His plans, so the school we want to eventually be at is the school that HE wants us to be at. Your prayers are greatly appreciated, for we know that we could not do this without your prayers. We look forward to coming back and sharing with you what God has shown us.
If you would like more information about each school, just click on the school name and it will take you to their official website. Once we get back with pictures and videos, I plan to fill everyone in with the context of each campus and community, along with the church situation. Plus, as you can tell, some of these campuses are further away from Pittsburgh than originally planned. I will let you know more about why that is when we get back! June 9, Wednesday – Travel to Pennsylvania June 10, Thursday - Visit Slippery Rock/Grove City, and Clarion June 11, Friday - Visit CalU and Robert Morris June 12, Saturday - Visit Edinboro and PennState – Erie June 13, Sunday – Travel home [click to enlarge map] I can’t tell you how much joy I have had these few months sharing our ministry with all the Sunday School classes and being encouraged by your love and support. We are so blessed to be able to be a part of such a loving church who has a heart for missions. My prayer is that God will lead us to a church in Pittsburgh that we can call home, the way Hephzibah has allowed us to here.
Also, I want to thank our family and friends who have partnered with us and recognize the importance for this ministry, along with the recognition of the calling God has placed on us. And we are blessed to also have our church back home, Glenn View, praying for us and supporting us as they seek to make Christ’s name famous in all the world. We would not be where we are if it wasn’t for you and your love for Jesus. Upcoming
To God be the glory for all He is doing in our lives and yours.
We hope that you and your family had a joyous Christmas. I know that you are looking forward to seeing what God will do with your life in the coming year. We were blessed to be able to start off the year taking part in the Passion 2010 conference. This was a 3 day conference geared toward challenging college students from around the world to glorify God in all areas of their lives, and to pursue His will and not their own. God spoke volumes to me when we discussed Hebrews 13:21. I was reminded that God is equipping me in every good work, fulfilling His will. For Him to use me the way He desires to use me in Pittsburgh, I must be molded, mended, shaped, and restored, becoming equipped to do all the things He has laid out for me. And the wonderful thing about this whole process is that it is well pleasing in His sight! This past month, I have been able to speak to 5 more Sunday School classes. It has been a joy to meet so many people in our church who are excited about this ministry, and who desire to partner alongside us! It has been amazing to meet people with connections in the Pittsburgh area, and want us to connect with them. This is something that has come as a big surprise to me, and one that I thank God for. Please pray that God will continue to bless us with new relationships as I continue to speak to all of our Sunday School classes. We are excited to see what God will do, and who He calls alongside us! God Bless, Scott Underhill This month, Briana and I were able to go to the Passion2010 Conference in Atlanta, GA. We took 15 students with us, along with 6 leaders. It was a time of reminding us of our purpose here on earth, to glorify God in all we do. No matter what we do here, it should be centered on giving God glory, and praising Him, no matter what circumstances we find ourselves in. One of the greatest things that I personally got out of this time was when Francis Chan preached about how we should tremble at the very Word of God. Treating the Bible so carelessly is a representation of how we feel about God’s Word. Being able to just hold God’s Word and read His very thoughts is such a blessing, and we should be thankful that God graciously gave it to us, so that we may have a relationship with Him. The fact that we have so many Bibles in our house probably leads us to appreciate the gift that we have. For example, it was freezing cold while we were there, and we walked a mile every day to the arena. I never appreciated the heat as much as I did that weekend because I was in the cold for so long. The heat was something I look forward to, and something that was so limited until I got inside. In the same way, if we only had one Bible like some people do in other countries, or even just one Bible in the village, we would take it much seriously and appreciate is much more. Long story short, this conference was AWESOME and something that has rejuvenated both Briana and myself. On top of that, being around 21,000 college students/leaders who loved the Lord was amazing, especially during worship. It was a small glimpse of what it will feel like in Heaven when we are all surrounding the throne of God, singing praises to Him!
http://www.268generation.com/2.0/splash3.htm http://www.268generation.com/passion2010/ So many times, we briefly talk about missions, and skim the surface of the importance of reaching all people, all nations, all tongues. We treat missions like we do exercise…something that we should take a part in, and it would be really good for us if we did, but only the truly dedicated ones can commit to something that life changing. Isn’t it amazing how short sighted we are. We keep taking our eyes off of the eternal because of the distractions from the earthly things. We get one chance at taking hold of all God has given us, and using it for His purpose. One chance. That’s it. And there are millions of people who also get this one chance, one chance to meet the Savior, Jesus Christ, to find redemption and a renewed relationship with their Father, God. One chance. I can’t reiterate those two words. One chance. I get the chance to be a part of a missions revival back home at Glennview Baptist Church. This will be a 4 day event covering everything from International missions to missions right in the backyard. Our goal is to spread the awareness of what is going on around the world, how the Gospel of Jesus Christ is being shared with all people, and how everyone can be a part of this glorious opportunity. So many times we treat missionaries as either brave or crazy, or usually both! But God has called us to be both brave and crazy for Him, because His way of doing things in this world is crazy compared to the norm. We can ALL be missionaries, whether at our work places or to a different country. The heart of missions is simply sharing the wonderful life changing news to people who need to hear it. We should want everyone to hear this great message, and receive the freedom from sin and the hope of eternal life. So be a missionary….share Jesus! It WILL change your life. http://www.hudsonny.org/2009/03/on-campus-the-pro-palestinians-real-agenda.php
Seems to be that students here in America quickly join causes around the world to seem sympathetic, but the fear is that they do not understand what is actually going on. The situation between Palestine and Israel has a deep rooted history, one that is VERY complicated, and has economical, historical, religious, and political ramifications. But for these students, is simple. Putting complete blame on one side in a complex situation is irrational and completely absurd. Why is it that these kind of demonstrations tend to happen on college campuses? What is it about the campus environment that leads students to take such extreme stances? What truly is interesting is how normal it is for college students to stand up and be radical for random causes and are actually applauded, but how closed-minded and intolerant students are labeled when they stand up for the TRUTH, that Jesus Christ died for our sins, and faith in Him, and Him alone, is our only hope for forgiveness of sins and eternal life with our Maker. Just another reason for the need for revival to take place on our college campuses. |
